Getting around Playa de las Américas with a scooter or wheelchair

Playa de las Américas is the busiest stretch of the south, and the good news for anyone with reduced mobility is that its heart is flat, paved and built around the seafront. The coastal promenade runs straight through it, linking Los Cristianos to the south with Costa Adeje to the north — roughly 9 kilometres of largely level walkway in total. On a mobility scooter you can do the whole thing at your own pace, stopping at the beaches, terraces and shopping streets along the way.

A quirk worth knowing: what everyone calls "Playa de las Américas" is split between two municipalities, Arona and Adeje, divided by the Barranco del Rey. It makes no difference for hiring — we deliver across both — but it does affect which beach services you will find, because each council runs its own.

On the Arona side, Playa del Camisón is a compact, sheltered beach with accessible facilities. On the Adeje side, Playas de Troya are officially listed as accessible, with accessible toilets, showers and changing rooms, reserved parking for blue badge holders, a ramped main entrance and boardwalks laid over the sand. Nearby, Playa de la Pinta sits protected by the breakwaters of Puerto Colón marina, so the water there is unusually calm — a useful detail if you or your companion is nervous about waves.

If you want to bathe with assistance, note that the most reliable service in the area is at Playa de las Vistas in Los Cristianos, a short distance along the promenade, which runs all year with fixed hours.

Mobility hire in Playa de las Américas — FAQs

Which beaches in Playa de las Américas are accessible?

Playa del Camisón, on the Arona side, is a sheltered beach with accessible facilities. On the Adeje side, the Playas de Troya are officially listed as accessible, with accessible toilets, showers and changing rooms, blue badge parking, a ramped entrance and boardwalks over the sand. For assisted bathing with amphibious chairs and a hoist, the most dependable option nearby is Playa de las Vistas in Los Cristianos.

Is the seafront flat enough for a mobility scooter?

Yes. The promenade through Playa de las Américas is level and paved, and it continues both south to Los Cristianos and north into Costa Adeje — around 9 kilometres of largely flat walkway. It is the single best reason to hire a scooter in this resort.

Where is the calmest water for someone unsteady on their feet?

Playa de la Pinta, next to Puerto Colón marina. It is sheltered by the harbour breakwaters, so the sea there is noticeably calmer than on the open beaches.

Can you deliver to a hotel on the Adeje side?

Of course. Playa de las Américas straddles the Arona and Adeje municipalities, and we deliver free across the whole resort and into Costa Adeje. Just give us the hotel name when you book.
