Your equipment, waiting at arrivals

The hardest part of a holiday with reduced mobility is often the first hour. You land, you collect your bags, and then you face a transfer with nothing to help you get around. Airport delivery removes that problem entirely: your scooter or wheelchair is waiting for you at Tenerife South Airport, so you leave the terminal already mobile.

Tenerife South — officially Tenerife Sur-Reina Sofía (TFS) — has a single passenger terminal, which makes meeting up simple. When you book, tell us your flight number and arrival time and we will be there. If your flight is delayed, we track it: you do not need to call us in a panic from the plane.

The airport sits beside the TF-1 motorway in Granadilla de Abona, roughly 20 kilometres from the southern resorts — about 20 to 25 minutes by road. Whether you are heading to Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas or Costa Adeje, you will be at your hotel with your equipment within half an hour of leaving arrivals.

On the way home, the process runs in reverse: we meet you at the airport before your flight and take the equipment back. No detours, no early drop-off, no dragging a scooter across a resort on your last morning.

Airport assistance

Getting help inside the terminal

Airport assistance and equipment hire are two different things — and it is worth understanding both, because they complement each other.

Inside the terminal, Aena runs its "Servicio Sin Barreras" assistance service for passengers with reduced mobility: help from the car park or the terminal entrance, through check-in and security, and all the way to your seat on the aircraft. It must be requested at least 48 hours before your flight, normally through your airline or travel agent, or directly with Aena (sinbarreras@aena.es, tel. +34 91 321 10 00). Aena recommends arriving around two and a half hours before departure. Under EU Regulation 1107/2006, this assistance is provided at no additional cost to the passenger.

What that service does not do is give you a scooter or a wheelchair for your holiday. It gets you through the airport. That is where we come in: we hand your hire equipment over once you are through, so you continue under your own steam from arrivals to your hotel and for the rest of your stay.

Airport mobility hire — FAQs

Where exactly will you meet me at the airport?

Tenerife South has a single passenger terminal, so it is straightforward. We agree the meeting point with you when you book and confirm it again by message before you fly, so you know exactly where to head once you have your bags.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

We track your flight and adjust. Give us your flight number when you book and you do not need to do anything else — we will be there when you actually land, not when you were scheduled to.

Is airport assistance the same as hiring a wheelchair?

No, and it is a common confusion. Aena's "Servicio Sin Barreras" helps you move through the terminal and board the aircraft — request it at least 48 hours in advance through your airline or at sinbarreras@aena.es. It does not provide equipment for your holiday. Our hire equipment is yours for the whole of your stay, from arrivals onwards.

How far is the airport from the southern resorts?

Around 20 kilometres to Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje — roughly 20 to 25 minutes by road on the TF-1 motorway.

Can I return the equipment at the airport when I leave?

Yes — that is the point of airport hire. We meet you at the terminal before your departure flight and take the equipment back there, so you keep it right up until you check in.
