Why Costa Adeje suits visitors with reduced mobility

Costa Adeje is the newest part of the southern coast, and it shows. It was largely built after the older resorts, with wide, level seafront avenues and modern hotels — which in practice makes it the easiest place in the south to move around on a scooter or in a wheelchair. The promenade that runs through Torviscas, Fañabé and El Duque continues south into Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos: around 9 kilometres of largely flat, paved walkway along the coast.

Beach accessibility in Costa Adeje is genuinely good — but it works differently from Arona, and the difference matters. Adeje council provides amphibious chairs at Torviscas, Fañabé and El Duque. At Torviscas and Fañabé there is an assisted bathing service with amphibious chairs and crutches. At Playa del Duque there is an amphibious chair but no assisted bathing support, so you will need someone with you.

Crucially, the council states that the service cannot be booked in advance: it depends on availability and on the lifeguard service hours. So if assisted bathing is essential to your trip, plan around it — Playa de las Vistas in Los Cristianos runs its service all year with fixed hours, and it is a short trip down the promenade.

Beyond the beaches, Costa Adeje is well set up for a day out: Siam Mall and Plaza del Duque shopping centres, X-Sur (formerly Gran Sur) in Fañabé, and Siam Park, which runs a free bus from the resorts. La Caleta, at the northern end, is a quieter fishing village where the coastal path skirts the whole bay.

Mobility hire in Costa Adeje — FAQs

Which Costa Adeje beaches have amphibious chairs?

Adeje council provides amphibious chairs at Torviscas, Fañabé and Playa del Duque. Torviscas and Fañabé also have an assisted bathing service with amphibious chairs and crutches. Playa del Duque has the chair but no assisted bathing support, so you will need a companion.

Can I book the amphibious chair in advance?

No. Adeje council states that the service cannot be reserved: it depends on availability and on the lifeguard service hours. If assisted bathing is essential to your holiday, Playa de las Vistas in Los Cristianos runs its service all year with fixed hours and is a short trip along the promenade.

Is Costa Adeje flat?

The seafront and the resort avenues are level and wide — it is the newest part of the coast and was built that way. This is the easiest area in the south to get around on a scooter or in a wheelchair.

Do you deliver to villas and to La Caleta?

Yes — hotels, apartments and private villas across the whole of Costa Adeje, including La Caleta at the northern end. Give us the address and any access notes when you book.
